Design Challenge:
To remodel and modernize a 1954 Ranch-style home while minimizing the need for additional square footage. The design needed to reflect the owners’ vision for an aesthetically simple yet impactful space, blending mid-century modern influences with contemporary functionality for hosting friends and family.
Physical Context:
Situated on a semi-rural 1.29-acre parcel, the property features a 1950s Ranch-style home with outdated exterior details and an interior in need of significant transformation. The site offers sweeping 180-degree views of the surrounding vistas, presenting an opportunity to enhance the home’s connection to its picturesque setting.
Solution:
The redesign opened up the compartmentalized interior public spaces, creating a seamless flow that connects the home’s living areas to the renovated pool deck, enhancing the home’s suitability for entertaining. Bold graphic patterns, visually warm materials, and refined spatial volumes were introduced to reflect the owners’ aesthetic goals. This thoughtful integration of mid-century modern elements with updated design details resulted in a home that celebrates its roots while embracing modern living and the beauty of its surroundings.
